The Bubble That Forgot Blue
Moon’s Bubble Stop had the biggest bubble Pip had ever seen. It floated above an indoor stage, round as a balloon and tall as a house. Usually it glowed blue. Today it looked like a giant window.
“It has forgotten its color,” Pip said.
“Perhaps it needs breakfast,” said Ivo.
Mira smiled. She had checked the station before their visit. Its air, doors and travel controls were working. Words and droplet shapes marked every stop. The missing blue belonged to the bubble show and its lanterns.
A dancer named Tessa stood beneath the clear bubble. She wore blue shoes with silver bows. “Our audience is waiting,” she said. “Should we cancel?”
Pip opened his drawing book. “I could paint a blue bubble.”
“A lovely picture,” said Tessa. “But we cannot paint this one. It is made of light.”
Zuri was already studying the stage. Behind a curtain, she spotted a little metal plate. A purple envelope was drawn on it. Beside the envelope sat a seven-spoke wheel.
“The same stamp!” she cried. “Mira, could we pause the show?”
Mira asked Tessa, who agreed. The audience settled into its seats. A worker explained that they were taking a short break. Ivo offered to count everyone’s shoes.
“That may take longer than the repair,” Noor told him.
Dandy crouched beside the plate. From one pocket he pulled a teaspoon. From another came his glasses cloth. At last he found a small light.
“My pockets have arranged themselves very creatively,” he said.
Noor read the old instruction plate. It showed a picture traveling to a storage box. A second line showed colored light coming back. But that return line ended at an old address.
“Our Strawberry invitation reached the right box,” they said. “Here, the reply went to the wrong place.”
Pip stared at the clear bubble. Tessa’s silver shoes shone through it. “We can see the whole dance from both sides!”
Zuri looked up from her clue. “Would that make a different show?”
Tessa turned once. Her bows seemed to swim inside the bubble. “Perhaps it would.”
While Noor checked the reply route, the children drew a new invitation. They added a droplet, the word BLUE and a picture of Bubble Stop. Pip drew Tessa’s shoes much larger than her head.
“Those shoes do deserve a starring part,” Tessa said.
Dandy sent the drawing. Noor opened the correct return path. Slowly, a blue curl appeared inside the bubble. It swirled once, then spread into a shining blue sky.
The audience clapped. But Tessa did not forget Pip’s idea. She asked the show team to keep a clear-bubble dance between the blue ones.
Pip’s cheeks warmed. His first plan had not worked, but noticing had helped.
After the show, a courier brought them a small parcel. It was wrapped in cream paper with a purple ribbon.
“For the people who answered,” read Mira.
There was no sender’s name. Only a station mark shaped like a flower.
Zuri searched their current map. She looked once, then again.
“This station,” she said, “isn’t here.”
