Ivo's Invisible Orchestra

Music came from the empty rehearsal room. There was a tiny drumbeat, a squeaky whistle and something that sounded like a spoon tapping a bowl.

Ivo peered through the open doorway.

“An invisible orchestra,” he declared.

“That would make a good pretend story,” Zuri said. “But what is making the real music?”

Pip stood beside Mira and listened. The same little whistle phrase returned three times.

Mira checked the room’s controls. Nobody was hiding there. She paused the old sound relay, and the music stopped.

Noor followed its label to a neighboring classroom. The teacher explained that a practice session had been connected to the wrong room through an old relay setting.

Mira asked whether the class wanted to share a short rehearsal. The teacher checked with the children, and they agreed on a time and a comfortable volume.

Noor corrected the controls so each room could choose when to join. The outside sign clearly said MUSIC PRACTICE. A quiet space remained available nearby.

Ivo borrowed a small triangle with permission. He placed it safely beside the chairs while setting up, then could not find it.

“The invisible orchestra has acquired an invisible instrument.”

Pip pointed under the lowest shelf. The triangle had slipped behind Ivo’s folded leg.

“Found,” Ivo said. “The orchestra is now visible and slightly embarrassed.”

They practiced a very short tune. Pip kept a gentle beat. Zuri played three clear notes. Ivo waited carefully for his turn, then tapped the triangle once.

On the classroom screen, the children applauded. Both rooms ended the rehearsal together and switched off the shared connection.

As they left, Pip imagined a concert played by invisible musicians in invisible hats.

“That part can stay in our pretend story,” he said.

Ivo nodded. “The real triangle will stay in its very visible box.”
