Subject: Request for the applicable authorised survey or demarcation process

Dear Sir/Madam,

I request information and action under the survey or demarcation procedure applicable to the parcel identified below.

LAND IDENTIFICATION
[Identify the land]

BOUNDARY ISSUE TO BE CHECKED
[Boundary that needs checking]

BACKGROUND
[What happened]

AVAILABLE SURVEY AND SUPPORTING RECORDS
[Available survey records and attachments]

Please determine whether your office is the competent authority for this service and whether the identified records are sufficient to begin the prescribed process. If an old and a current survey number, a subdivision or an area unit needs correlation, please identify the further record required before measurement is undertaken.

ADJOINING PARCELS AND KNOWN AFFECTED PEOPLE
[Adjoining parcels and known affected people]

This list contains only information presently known to me. I do not represent that adjoining holders agree with my description or waive any notice or opportunity required by the applicable procedure. Please advise how the correct affected parties are to be identified and notified.

REQUESTED ACTION
[What you want]

Please inform me of the prescribed application, documents, lawful eligibility or authorisation requirement, fee and payment channel. Where an authorised site visit is appropriate, please communicate its reference and the attendance or access directions through the recognised channel. I ask that the survey use the applicable official records and record any relevant limitation or unresolved discrepancy.

I am seeking a checked boundary description through the competent process. I do not ask this letter or a website sketch to be treated as a determination of ownership, a right to enter another person's land or permission to remove a fence or shift a boundary marker. Any existing order or restriction identified in the background should be considered before action.

Please advise how the resulting report, sketch, measurement record or order can be obtained as an issued copy and what procedure applies if a factual discrepancy is found. I request an acknowledgment so that the application and later communications can be kept together.

Yours faithfully,

Your next moves

  1. Submit through the recognised survey or demarcation channel and retain the application number.
  2. Follow the authority's attendance, access and notice directions; do not move markers yourself.
  3. Obtain the issued report or record, review discrepancies and ask about the proper objection route if needed.

Real-world check

A cadastral map or portal sketch is not itself a fresh ground survey. Demarcation, private measurement, record correction and determination of disputed title are separate issues. This letter does not decide a boundary, authorise entry on another person's land or override a court order.
