Direct and ad-free smart links: choose the right format

AppOpener product guide · Updated

A visitor arriving from your bio, story or campaign needs a clear route to the promised video, profile or website. AppOpener offers a free smart link and optional paid formats. Choose a format for the experience your audience needs, then test that experience before changing the link in a published post.

Start with the free link

The free format gives your destination an AppOpener address, a preview, an app-opening action, a website fallback and a QR code. It is a useful starting point for sharing a public destination and checking how the handoff behaves on the devices your audience uses.

A free preview may include separate, labelled discovery and sponsored areas. Those areas do not change the destination you chose. Before deciding to upgrade, make a free link and check that its title and destination match the promise in your post. A paid format will not make a private video public or remove another platform’s account requirements.

When a Direct link is useful

Direct is the ad-free format for a focused AppOpener handoff. Its visitor flow omits the optional AppOpener sponsored billboard, discovery cards and discussion areas that can appear beside a free preview. It is worth comparing when you want a campaign visitor to concentrate on one destination.

Ad-free describes the AppOpener link experience. It does not remove advertising from YouTube, Instagram or the website you send people to. It also does not guarantee that a device will launch its installed app. The browser, operating system and destination app still control that handoff; the website fallback remains important.

Use the phone preview to compare formats before buying. A preview is a layout demonstration, not a paid or published link. Review the current price, currency and terms displayed in checkout rather than relying on an old screenshot or a price mentioned in a social post.

Check payment and delivery separately

  1. Paste the exact public destination and select Direct in the link builder. Review the destination again before opening checkout.
  2. Use only a payment option that the current checkout makes available. If checkout says it is unavailable, keep the free link working and return later.
  3. After returning from the payment provider, wait for the order status to confirm payment and display the purchased link. Opening a payment page or returning to AppOpener does not by itself confirm payment.
  4. Open the delivered link in a fresh browser tab and verify the destination and Direct experience before replacing your existing campaign URL. Keep the order reference if you need help.

If payment is pending or delivery has not appeared, check the existing order status before making another payment. Contact AppOpener through the Contact page with the order reference and the issue; keep payment credentials and private account details out of public comments.

Measure whether the format helps

Keep a record of the publication date and the format used. Compare campaigns with similar content, audience and observation periods. Check both AppOpener link activity and the destination platform’s own results. A recorded link visit is not a confirmed video view, follow or purchase.

The useful question is whether the visitor reaches the action you promised. Look for fewer failed handoffs and clearer next steps, then measure orders or other outcomes at the destination. Avoid promising a sales increase simply because the page is quieter.

Quick answers

What is an AppOpener Direct link?

Direct is the ad-free format for a focused AppOpener handoff. It omits optional AppOpener sponsored billboards, discovery cards and discussion areas. It does not remove advertising or access requirements at the destination, and app opening still depends on the device and browser.

Can I compare Direct before paying?

Yes. Select Direct in the link builder and compare the phone preview. A preview is not a purchased link. Review the current price, currency and availability shown in checkout; keep your free link working if checkout is unavailable.

When is my paid link ready to share?

Wait for the existing order status to confirm payment and display the delivered link. A provider return or payment-page visit is not payment confirmation. Test the delivered destination and Direct experience before replacing your campaign URL.
