Rehearse your online creator show before going live
AppOpener product guide · Updated
An online showcase needs more than a play button. A visitor should know whose work is on screen, whether a slot is sponsored and what they can do next. Use a small rehearsal to find broken links and awkward pauses before inviting the audience.
Make a cue sheet
Create one row for each segment: creator, work title, source URL, start time, expected duration and the next presenter or clip. Add a named operator and a backup item for each transition. Keep a copy outside the streaming device so an app crash does not remove your schedule.
Check that the creator has agreed to this showing and to any recorded replay. Confirm the music, artwork and video permissions for the way you intend to use them. Permission to watch a public upload is not a blanket licence to download, edit or rebroadcast it. The source platform’s copyright guidance is linked below.
Rehearse the visitor journey
- Test the opening link on a 360px phone, a larger phone and desktop, using the actual sharing app when possible.
- Check title legibility, captions, contrast and the route back after opening an external app.
- Prepare a clear replay or return-time message if the live source ends or cannot be embedded.
- Run a short closed rehearsal with a few people and ask them to describe every point where they hesitated.
Keep the first playback muted until a viewer chooses sound. Offer captions or a transcript for speech where available, and let people pause movement. Do not make an important action depend only on colour, an animated icon or a tiny text label.
Measure the right thing
A live viewer number should come from a current presence signal with a defined timeout. A cumulative visit count is not the number watching now. If the source is unavailable, display that state rather than keeping a stale number labelled live.
If visitors score the work, explain what the score measures and preserve individual feedback without allowing payment to change the review average. Sponsored slots should identify the advertiser and placement period. After the show, review completed playback, voluntary reviews, applications and confirmed purchases separately; an automatically opened preview is an exposure, not a sale.
